“HOW DOES THIS WORK?”

What products do you offer? “Beauty and the Sweets” provides hand-crafted, gourmet cupcakes. The various flavors and designs have been thoughtfully curated starting with the ingredients, considering the seasons and holidays, and factoring in the visual appeal as well. I will continue to enhance the flavor selection as creativity strikes.

*How do I go about placing an order? First and foremost, everything is by pre-order. This is not a storefront/open-daily location with set operational hours at this time. All of the prepping, baking, icing, decorating, and finishing touches are done within my licensed kitchen in my home. Hence, and “in-home” bakery.

Now back to the original question: whatever is most convenient for you. If you are on Facebook or Instagram - all it takes is simply messaging me. If through the CONTACT page of this website makes it feel more official - by all means send the inquiry through. Or if you feel better calling because you have a list of questions to ask, I do not mind at all. Regardless, I make it a point to respond promptly.

*How much advance notice is required? My NUMBER 1 answer is: the more notice I have - the BETTER! I always explain to my customers, even if you don’t know yet the exact quantities and/or flavors of cake, cupcakes, or both - just letting me know the date and an approximate idea of what we’re looking at is HUGE. I don’t know the how or why of it, but certain weekends or times of the year just fill up quicker than others. That being said, I DO implement Sold Out weekends especially when I have multiple custom orders, back-to-back weddings, and bulk quantities all in a matter of a single weekend. Thank you for understanding!

What is your pricing? Allow me to refer you to the Pricing page of this website.

*When do I pay for my order? In general, payment is due the day-of pickup. Paying prior-to is not necessary. However, the notable exception to this is with weddings. With this particular occasion, terms are a little different which I cover in our consultation.

*How do I pay for my order? I accept cash or check. (If by check, please make payable to Beauty and the Sweets LLC)

*What is “pickup etiquette?” When placing your order, in addition to deciding on items, flavors, quantities, and such - there is also arranging the date and time of pickup. Pickup Etiquette comes into play with being courteous via communication...

Please, do not arrive more than 15 minutes prior to our agreed-upon pickup time without notifying me. I do my very best to plan out/gauge my time for the various projects I have. However, the predetermined time that is set by the customer is what I go off of. I would ask that you respect that as much as I do in making sure I have your order completed by that set time.

In addition, if you are running behind schedule whether it’s due to traffic, unforeseen circumstances, an emergency, etc. - Please, o please, let me know. Simply call or text me just so I am not worrying about you because I will. I will worry! I have a set rule that if a pickup is 15 minutes past the allotted pickup time - I will contact the customer with a simple message. If the delay should run into 30 minutes - I will attempt a 2nd time. Any pickup that is past 30 minutes will be charged an additional fee if I am not contacted. Please, please know - I understand there are unforeseen emergencies. That is 100% an exception. I am referring to the occasional instances of a pickup simply running behind schedule and the lack of notifying me.

*Where do I collect my order? All pickups are done at my in-home bakery location. Please refer to the map icon on the CONTACT page of this site for directions. The only exception to this would be if I am attending a pop-up event or I advertise specifically that I will be setting up at a given event. In this instance, I will of course provide advance notice and details for the occasion of where I will be.

*What do I need to know when transporting and storing cupcakes? Once your order leaves my kitchen, whether being picked up by yourself or a designated individual, it is now out of my hands. I am no longer responsible. With transporting for weddings, pop-ups, or other large events, I know firsthand it can be a little nerve-wracking. I would highly recommend…

  • Cautious driving. Come to complete stops, take sharp corners slowly, obey the speed limit and the like. It is none of business - all I can do is advise. However once again, when your order leaves my kitchen, I am no longer responsible.

  • Placing the cupcakes on the floor or trunk of the vehicle (as the seats tend to have a bit of a dip/angle to them) most certainly helps as usually the floor/trunk is the most level portion of the vehicle.

For cupcakes, I recommend storing at room temperature any leftovers and in a sealed container i.e. Tupperware or Rubbermaid. More detailed suggestions for storage are provided in their given categories on the previous Q+A page.
